Hi all,

I was wondering if it is possible to connect to project server 2003 with
project 2003 professional.
I tried but i received the error message like this:
"Unable to connect
Sql State: '01000'
Sql server error: 53 Unable to establish the connection
sqlstate '08001'
Errore di sql server: 17

Many thanks

from the subject line, I'm assuming you are trying to connect from
outside a firewall or some other network border. If so, you will have
difficulty connecting with 2003. Project Pro 2003 requires a direct
ODBC connection to the database server. The ports could be opened to
allow this connection, but this would be a huge security risk. And the
user experience would be poor as well, as Project Pro 2003<-> Project
Server 2003 is extremely sensitive to network latency.

Try a VPN if you need to do this, but once you find that the speed is
unacceptable you will need to move to a Terminal Services or Citrix
type solution.

This aspect of Project Server has been massively improved in 2007.
