external hard drives

appears to be useful as back-ups for a system. What happens if the
motherboard goes down. can the external back up be used on another computer?
can one external be used to back up more than one system?

I'd suggest you ask both this and your other question in a newsgroup related
to whatever version of Windows you're using.

Heya,

well if there is a boot record on the HD, then yes you can plug the external
thing into a different system, and it should boot up.
Normaly if a MB fries, just replace it and the HD's should be picked up and
your OS should start, you might have to reinstall some drivers afterwards.

Hope this helps.
rgds,
Alex
