External hyperlink won’t work.

I use FrontPage 2000. I have assigned an external hyperlink to a Navigation
Bar page, it looks right in Navigation view. I checked and double-checked
it, but no matter what I do, the external webpage will not show up, either in
the Preview tab, or when I Preview to Browser.

This is the whole page? Did you do Format, Shared Borders? Did you switch
to Navigation View and add a page to the navigation (right-click add
existing page)?

Yes, it is the whole page. Yes, I did Format, Shared Borders, and they work
fine. In Navigation View, I dragged the page from the folder list, and it
showed up fine, with the hyperlink child page, in the pyramid structure. I
did not right-click add existing page, however, and am not sure how to do
this.

That is an empty page, probably copied from Code View in FrontPage.
Preview in browser, View source, and copy the code from there, and post
that version here.

Code view in FrontPAge will not show the code in shared borders.

Or better still open the appropriate shared border file in FP (say top.htm or left.htm) in the hidden _borders folder (Tool Site
Settings Advanced - Show Hidden Files) and post the nav bar code from there

There will not be any usable code there unless the shared border file is
added to Navigation View - unlikely, IMO, and then it would only be a
webbot like

It looks like you have attempted to add a new link to the nav. bar by
hand.
To add a mailto link to a navigation bar, follow these steps:

Open the website in FrontPage

Open Navigation View

Right click on a page (yellow box) and choose "Add existing page" or
"Add external Page" (wording depends on version of FrontPage).

In the dialogue, type in the URL as
mailto:[email protected] (change user and domain to your requirements)
Click OK

Edit the new box (which will have a globe in bottom left corner) to the
wording you reqire (eg Contact Us)

Drag the box to where you actually want it positioned in the Navigation

Done

I did this, with the same result: a blank page with my regular borders,
opens. An e-mail does not launch. This is exactly the same problem as with
the non-working webpage hyperlinks: a blank page with my regular borders
opens, but still no external webpage, either in the Preview tab or in Preview
in Browser.

What am I doing wrong? I am totally frustrated here.

It looks like you have attempted to add a new link to the nav. bar by
hand.
To add a mailto link to a navigation bar, follow these steps:

Open the website in FrontPage

Open Navigation View

Right click on a page (yellow box) and choose "Add existing page" or
"Add external Page" (wording depends on version of FrontPage).

In the dialogue, type in the URL as
mailto:[email protected] (change user and domain to your requirements)
Click OK

Edit the new box (which will have a globe in bottom left corner) to the
wording you reqire (eg Contact Us)

Drag the box to where you actually want it positioned in the Navigation

Hyperlink appears perfectly connected in Navigation view, but I see no
hyperlink in the code here:

I use FrontPage 2000. I have assigned an external hyperlink to a Navigation
Bar page, it looks right in Navigation view. I checked and double-checked
it, but no matter what I do, the external webpage will not show up, either in
the Preview tab, or when I Preview to Browser.
