External Links to other Projects

I currently have 6 detailed Porjects and I am creating a
Master Program project.

I would like to know how I can link the key tasks from my
lower level projects to the programme level project.

I would like any updates in my lower projects to be
reflected in my Programme level(change of dates, update
of completion etc).

I have managed to link the tasks as predecessors, but
this does not update completion and start finish dates.

Chris,
There are probably several ways to do this, some better than others. For
starters, how about creating a master project using Insert/Projects and
then applying a filter (perhaps based on a spare Flag field) that just
shows the tasks of interest for the master level. No links are needed.

Another approach is to use Paste Links (Edit/Paste Special) to provide
an update "path" from the subproject data to the master data. Be careful
with Paste Links though, they are not always robust and they need to be
applied carefully. For example, don't paste link both the Start and
Finish fields. Instead, paste link Start and Duration, Finish will
calculate automatically.
