External Newsgroups?

I have never used a newsgroup before, and I just got Entourage 2004 (with
office) and I realized that I know of a couple of local newsgroups that I
would love to be able to take part in, but webmail is not very newsgroup
friendly.

So my question is, (how) can I subscribe to a newsgroup not listed under
microsoft.something.or.other? Like a LLuG? (PLuG north for me...)

Thanks, and I hope I can figure out how to receive responses! I'll try to
sort through the jungle of posts to find responses to this post!

Thanks again!

You need to find the address of a news server you have access to (eg:
through your ISP) that would be hosting the groups you are interested
in.
After that, you can create a new newsgroup account in Entourage (same
way you'd be creating a new e-mail account), get the list of all the
groups hosted and subscribe to the one you are interested in.
