User will open an Outlook email attachment, which is in an office format
(word, excel, ppt, etc), will PRINT the file from the native office app and
then close the email in outlook and the printing app as well. However, an
instance of the printing app stays open in task manager, but is not visible
in the taskbar. Once this happens, we cannot open documents from our
document mangement system (Interwoven Worksite DMS) since this "hidden"
instance of the app clogs the DDE channel that the DMS uses to communicate
with the DMS. Once we kill the errant instance of the app, the DDE channel
becomes free and all is well. What is causing this this extra instance of
the Office app to stay open?
We are using Office 2007. It does not matter which app was opened to print
a file, all clog the DDE channel and get in the way of each other.
