Extra tab added to list style

I am currently using Word 2000 with a master template based on metric
(millimetre) measurements.

When I modify a numbered or bulletted list style aligned at 0mm and indent
at 5mm and no other changes a tab of 6.3mm (0.25 inch) is added. It doesn't
happen with outline number styles.

Where is this spurious tab coming from so I can stop it?

Thank you for the hint. It looks like I have been another victim of "Jason
Tabs".
