Extract a portion of audio notes

I use OneNote 2003 in meetings all the time. Often I am in a meeting that
focuses on a busienss process that I am not that familiar with. I go back to
my bulleted notes and audio and learn about the process at a later time
without disturbing others. As a consultant, when I am exposed to a brand new
business process for the 1st time, I find this OneNote functionality to be a
lifesaver.

Say for example, if I am revisiting a meeting notes & audio and i am unclear
on a specific topic in the meeting discussion. Is there a way to "extraxt" or
copy a portion of the notes and audio and attach it to an email. I would like
to accumulate questions in an email and send the notes/audio attachments to
the subject matter experts for clarification. (I don't want to send them the
entire 3 hours of meeting notes and audio.)

Any way to do this in One 2003. if not, what about One 2007?

Thanks, Jack

Nothing within OneNote will let you do this, but the indexed WMA file
that OneNote creates is available for use outside of OneNote.

If you're already using the recording feature within OneNote, you can use
the timestamp information to see roughly where in the audio file the
desired audio portion is (i.e. 5m14s into the meeting) , and then use a
sound editing program to extract the sound from that file starting at the
timestamp.

The audio file for a given meeting should be in the same location as the
*.ONE file on which you took the meeting minutes. I would recommend
making a copy of the *.WMA file and placing that file outside of the
OneNote folder(s) before editing the file.
