extract figures to a summary

A

Andy Bolger

hoping you can help me with this one. i have four files;

TimesTeam_A, TimesTeam_C, TimesTeam_M, TimesTeam_T. In each file there are 9
sheets (one for each employee by name eg Lee) and a summary of all 4 files
on a separate sheet in TimesTeam_A called "Summary". Because of a weird
payment structure one firm pays for hours worked and another pays for leave,
eg sick, annual etc.

On each sheet in column H6:H19 are their nett hours with a total at H20.
Again on each sheet in column I6:I19 are comments that, together with a
formula in E6:E19 detrmine the type of and hours paid for leave eg "annual,
sick, etc"

The summary looks like this:
B C D
E F H I J
Row3 Week 1 Team1 Team2 Team3 Team4 Total Less
Sick Less Annual Invoicing

Row 4 Week 2 Team1 Team2 Team3 Team4 Total Less
Sick Less Annual Invoicing

Row 5 = Total for each column

What I want is when a comment appears in column I6:I19 (eg "sick") take
those nett hours and put them into the appropriate column on the summary so
that we invoice each firm correctly.

many thanks, because i've done the rest but this is beyond me.

If you wish, send me direct a small file containing your Summary sheet
(or a summary of it) and one employee sheet for each team. If the employee
sheets for the four teams are virtually the same, just include one employee
sheet. Clearly show what you want copied from the employee sheet and were
you want to paste it on the Summary sheet.
May I make a suggestion? I have setup similar files for other people
and I, and they, have found that it is better to put everything in one file.
That's the Summary sheet, and all 9 sheets from each team file all in one
file. Simple macro routines can be written to hide all sheets but those
sheets pertaining to the team you want to work with, The Summary sheet
would always be visible. A simple click and you have another team set of
sheets visible and all others hidden. I have found this to be much easier
to work with. Just a suggestion.
Remove "hello" from my address or it will go nowhere. HTH Otto
