Greetings,

I am rather new to Visio and have a Visio Document that I am required
to extract just the entities to a sql script from a entity
relationship drawing. After much searching through the visio help and
searching through google, I still have yet to find the answer. I do
not want to have to manually type out the sql for this as my drawing
has many entities in it. In a perfect world, I would just go to
File>>generate sql script or something of that nature. Can someone
please point me in the right direction as to how this can be done?

Thanks,
zero

You don't say what version of Visio you have ... but unless it has
Enterprise Architect in its name, then a Visio ERD is just a pretty
picture. Only the high-end Visio product allows you to generate SQL to
create your schema. I use Visio Pro 2000 to draw my ERD because I like
having the diagram; but I have to maintain a separate script to create all
my tables.

Enterprise Architect in its name? I've looked all over
the place and can only find 2 version of Visio: Standard
and Professional. If there is another version of Visio
for more advanced users, where do we find it because I'd
like the ability to generate a database schema based on
my ERD.

I'll let one of the Microsoft people tell you the exact name (since I
don't have it, I can't look it up). But it comes with Visual Studio .NET,
I believe.
