Extracting data from a sku for shipping

Our products have a sku number that contains information on the product
weight and mail class it is to ship by. How do I get excel to recognize just
that portion of a sku so that it can "see" the mail class and weight?
As an example - here is a sku 00-1007-133
The number 1007 tells us the mail class is First Class (1) and the weight is
7 ounces (7). How can I get excel to read just the 4 numbers in the center of
the sku?

If your sku is in A1, =MID(A1,4,4)
