extremely basic question about paragraph indenting

This is a terribly basic question but I can't find the answer in Word
Help. How do I indent all the paragraphs of a Word document, not just
one para...

It's possible that Michael may mean that he wishes to indent just the first
line of every paragraph, not the whole paragraph. That can be done when you
start a new document by dragging the upper margin setter only (the one
called, yes, "First Line Indent" when you hover your mouse over it). You
could do this in your Normal template if you want to do this always, or in a
particular Style if you want to do it just sometimes, when you choose that
style. To modify existing documents, select the whole document (cmd-A), and
then adjust the First Line Indent setter.

Yes I want to indent just the first line of each para. But what is the
upper margin setter? I don't get any kind of message when I hover my
mouse over anything. On the top line of the ruler at the top there is a
triangle which allow me to indent first lines of individual paras, but
I'm looking for a quick way of indenting every para. Sorry to sound a
bit dim...

Michael (I have Word for Mac 2004, btw).

What Paul is telling you is that when you adjust the control on the Ruler
the change applies to *all* paragraphs selected at that time. So... Use the
Cmd+A keystroke (or go to Edit>Select All) to select all, then reposition
the First Line Indent marker where you wish. Alternatively, once you have
selected all, you could go to Format>Paragraph & specify the first line
indent there. The first line of all paras will be adjusted accordingly.
