F4 revisited (Suzanne)

For those of you new to this issue: the problem is that
on occassion, Word's repeat key function (F4) does not
operate coorectly when typing a word that is to be
repeated. Pressing the key causes a repeat of the word
without its first letter.

Suzanne: There appears to be no problem with the key
when typing normally out in open space; however, when the
word you want to repeat is typed over a SELECTED word
(the one that you will be typing over), and then you
press F4, you get a partial repeat. For example, if you
highlighted the word "first" and wanted to replace it
with "initial," and then pressed F4, you'd get "nitial."

If you Cntl-Z you'll see the (flawed) repeated word
disappear; hit it again and you'll see the first letter
of the word that you wanted to repeat (the missing
letter). The first letter typed over a selected (ie, to
be replaced) word, seems to count as a deletion of the
original word--the rest of the new word is a second step,
and is the one that's repeated.

Changes to Tools/Options/Edit do not rectify this.

More as I work through this, although I have no idea how
to remedy this.

That makes sense. When I started reading your description I wondered if the
number of letters in the respective words was significant, but I think your
analysis is correct.
