F9 shortcut key not working

I have a word document where the F9 shortcut key doesn't seem to update the
tables anymore.

I Ctrl-A and then F9 and the tables do not update. Track changes is off and
the document is unprotected so I'm not sure what could be stopping the update
from occurring. Any ideas?

Assuming that the fields have not been unlinked or locked, try the
following: In the Customize Keyboard dialog box, press F9 and verify that it
is assigned to the UpdateFields command. If not, restore the keyboard
shortcut.
