Hi Greg,
You can reprogram Word's shortcut keys to suit yourself.
One way to deal with this is to set a different key to Update Fields. Go to
Tools/Customize/Keyboard button/All Commands (left pane)/UpdateFields (right
pane), Remove F9 and Assign something else (most combinations using the
Control key are available).
The other way, if you want to stick with F9 for Update Fields in Word, is to
reprogram Exposé to another key combination. Go to System Preferences in
the Dock/Exposé, and change the "All Windows" Keyboard popup to a different
F key or key combo ("Right Shift" is the right Shift key - below Return and
to the right of the /? Key). Check first to find something in Word that
doesn't have a conflict or where you don't care about the Word function
whose key combo will be taken now by Exposé.
Hope this helps.
