fade smoothly is not an available option in my transitions menu. .

Other users seem to have a "fade smoothly" transition available in the
pull-down list. My list shows "fade through black" but not the option to
"fade smoothly". I know it exists: I've seen it. When I search the Knowledge
base, the screen shot even shows the "fade smoothly" option. What am I
missing?

You didn't mention your version but I'm going to guess 2002 or 2003 and
suggest you look under tools -> options -> edit -> are the 'disable new
features' checkboxes ticked (in particular the first one)?
