Faded letters on screen

I have just reinstalled Office 2000 Pro on Windows XP Pro
system, and in Word, the letters on the screen are faded
as if in a printer that needs a new cartridge. Can
anyone tell me how to fix this?

You might get this is you are looking at main body text in header and
footer view, or looking at a header or footer in normal view.
