Here another one:
Document setup:
- letter size, portrait, print layout view
- margins: one inch to the left, right, top, and bottom;
header & footer at half an inch.
- Body Text: Font/Font Size: Times New Roman 12 pts; -
Line spacing: single; Space between paragraphs: none
- Endnotes: Times New Roman 10 pts; - Line spacing:
Single; Space between paragraphs: none
Steps to Reproduce:
0) Open new document as described (or any other, as it
doesn't matter)
1) Change layout to two columns with half an inch spacing
as preset.
2) Type in anything, for the sake of demonstration just
the letter "A".
3) press carriage return for a forced line/paragraph break
4) Enter a continuous section break
5) after that section break, type in any text, for the
sake of demonstration just the letter "B".
6) Place cursor right after the letter A
7) Enter endnotes continuously. Do not enter any text into
endnotes, as this is not required and just wastes of time.
You notice that Word nicely balances the endnote column to
let the next section start right below this.
8) Once you enter more endnotes than would fit in an
entire column, that is: once endnotes fill about or more
than half a page, the balancing will suddenly stop,
the "B" will show up either on the very last line of this
page or on the next page.
This error in Word exists since version Word for Windows
1.0. It occurs only in multi-column rendering when more
endnotes are on one page than can be placed in a single
column of the respective width of that section's rendering.
I would appreciate it if somebody could report it and
Mircosoft would work on it.
Thanks
Michael
