failed install of bcm in outlook 2007

the following error appears when try to install bcm

Setup failed to install the required component MSSQL server 2005 express (
MSSMLBIZ ). BCM for Outlook 2007 cannot continue."

i am using win xp hme sp2
there is no logon/user accounts-windows automatically loads
office 2007 has install fine but cd2 with bcm does not load

i tried to install SQL Server 2005 Express Edition SP2 from
http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/express/sql/download/

i get this error-Error 1923. Service 'SQL Server VSS Writer' (SQLWriter)
could not be installed. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to
install system services.

any help will very much be appreciated.Thank You

Hi Christine
Before Installing BCM 2007, Could you please make sure to uninstall
everything releated to SQL 2005 on your machine?
Are you administrator on the box?

I actually didi uninstall and reinstall everything
this is what i have done:


i ran the windows installer cleanup
utility-http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/290301

and removed the following:

- Office Small Business 2007
- microsoft SQL server 2005 Express
- microsoft SQL server Native Client
- microsoft SQL server setup support files
- microsoft SQL server VSS Writter


then i went to regedit
and renamed to *old the following registry values:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Business Solutions eCRM

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Business Solutions eCRM
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server Native Client
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server 2005 redist
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\MSSQL$MICROSOFTSMLBIZ
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\MSSQLServerADHelper
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\SQLAgent$MICROSOFTSMLBIZ

Then I went to my computer and did the same here:

rename "c:\program files\microsoft sql server" to sqlold
rename "c:\program files\microsoft office" to officeold

after that i went on to Reinstall Office 2007

Look in the most recent files in folder like this C:\Program Files
\Microsoft SQL Server\90\Setup Bootstrap\LOG

Those should have more details about the 1923 error.

And, does this message actually stop the SQL Server 2005 Express
Edition SP2 install? Could you ignore this and continue the setup?

I don't think BCM uses VSS.

The error may be caused by an obsolete VSS entry in the nt services
table.

it seems like it stops the installation of BCM
when i get the 1923 error it just has the options
abort/cancel/retry

i tried "retry"-pop up the same error message
i choose cancel-does not proceed
i choose abort then it rolls back

I would suggest installing the latest Sql Express from microsoft.com,
and once that's installed, running BCM Setup.
