Failed Security Update on Office2003

I am unable to update the security features on my Office 2003. Everytime I
did that, I got the message "security updates could not be installed", and it
will try updating again on every shutdown of the pc.

I don't have this problem with my other machines. Any helps appreciate.

I have the same problem. My computer downloaded a security download for
excel KB95995 but each time I try to install it I get the message Failed to
install Code 57E. I have searched for the past week for a solution but
without success. One of the suggestions was to insert the Office CD in the
CD drive whilst trying to install it (it didn't work) another said that
Security Pack 3 had to be installed in order for it to be installed.
Security Pack 3 is already installed, still no joy. can anyone help with
this problem please?
I am running Microsoft Office Professional 2003 Operating system Windows
Vista Home.

Error 57E means that you need to have your Office 2003 CD in your CD\DVD Rom while
it is installing those Upgrades. The reason for this is that you either uninstalled
your MSO Cache or you chose not to install it

Try the following. This is not for the 57E error

1st Rename Office subkeys

Note: Removing the following registry keys may reset customized user
settings for your Microsoft Office programs.

1. Close all the applications.
2. Click on Start->Run, type in REGEDIT and click on OK.
3. Locate and select the following registry subkeys:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0

4. Right click on 11.0 and rename them to Old11.
5. Close the Registry Editor.

2nd. Detect and Repair Office 2003

1. On the Windows taskbar, click Start, point to and click Control Panel.
2. Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
3. Click Change/Remove Programs on the left pane.
4. Highlight Microsoft Office Professional Edition 2003 on the right pane
and click Change.
5. Insert the correct version of CD when it requires.
6. Select “Reinstall and Repair†and click Next.
7. Select “Detect and Repair errors in my Office installationâ€.
8. Click Install and wait the process to end.

3rd. Install the Updates

Thanks, Peter.

I will try your suggestions when I am less busy. Will post back after trying.
