Failed update for Outlook 2003 Junk Email Filter

Hi All,

I'm running MS Office XP Pro 2003 over Win2kPro with SP4. Microsoft Update
said it had a Critical Update for my system:
Update for Outlook 2003 Junk Email Filter (KB902953)

I got:
Initializing installation... done!

Installing Update for Outlook 2003 Junk Email Filter (KB902953) (update 1 of
1)...

Then I got:

Updates were unable to be successfully installed

The following updates were not installed:

Update for Outlook 2003 Junk Email Filter (KB902953)

When I go to Update History and click on the Status (failed) icon, I get:

* Installation Failure

Error Code: 0x52F

Try to install the update again, or request help from one of the
following resources.

Finally, I read somewhere the Microsoft Update requires adequate space on
the partition housing the OS for the purpose of downloading and installing
updates. On my system:

Partition housing Win2kPro:

Capacity: 10.7GB

Free space: 7.5GB

Any ideas?

Thanks in Advance,

Richard

Well... the first thing to do is to ensure is that you actually have Outlook
2003. In your message, you say you're running "MS Office XP Pro 2003".

You can't be. There's no such thing.

Office XP is Office 2002. Office 2003 is the next later version of Office.

So, if you're really running XP, then that's the problem.

Hi there Tyson, (nice name :))
I'm having the same problem, the deifreence that I use the office 2003 Pro.
after downloading the updates:
Office 2003 Service Pack 1 (SP1)
Update for Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 Junk E-mail Filter
after a short while of installation I receiving the message:

"Installation Failure

Error Code: 0x52F
Try to install the update again, or request help from one of the following
resources"

it goes repeatedly over and over and over again...
tried restarting + checked that now office process is running such as
winword.exe..

and still nothing. I think that if I'll find the place where the
installation files are located, delete them, and then download them again it
might work. (cause maybe the downloaded installation is broken)

and ideas?? do you know where the downloaded installation files are located?

mucho 10x,
ER.
