Failing links!!! Why??

Lochi

I get so frustrated when I do the simplest of things and it does not work!
I am doing a hyper-simplistic site with a home page and only one level below.
No shared borders or automatic fancy nothing. On the home page is a list of
links in the form of words (text), linked successfully to each of the 19
pages below – no problem. On the bottom of each of these 19 pages is a
hoverbutton that says “HOMEâ€, hyper-linked in the normal way back to the
Index page. Even the “hyperlinks view†says yes, it is linked both ways.
However, when I test it in Browser mode, it does not change up to the home
page.
What have I done wrong??
Thanx

Hi Lochi,

If it is a "hover" button then it need to use a Java Applet which does not run in the browse mode of FP. Preview the page in a
browser and it should work.

Hover buttons are java applets, which will not work in many (possibly
most) installations of Windows XP or IE6 and later. Change the hover
button to something else - a text link or image rollover.

Good grief! I have done several sites with hundreds of hover buttons in the
old days (previous millenium) when my pc was still running on power parafine.
Now all of a sudden apples and goodies are illegal. So why on earth does FP
have a trick like a hover button if it does not work.
Am I stupid?
No, don't answer!
Thank you folks, I'll construct a small table and type HOME in it in stead
of hovering outside of my abilities.

Java applets are not illegal - they just will not work unless a JVM is
installed. Thank Sun's legal action with Microsoft for the current
state of affairs, where a JVM is not installed with Windows.

When FP2002 and earlier versions were released, this legal dispute did
not exist, and Microsoft installed their own JVM as standard. In the
latest version of FrontPage (FP2003) the Hover Button is well hidden,
and does not appear in the default menus or toolbars (new users would
not know they existed), and really only there for existing sites. If
all your users are willing to download and install Sun's Java Virtual
Machine then hover buttons and (most) other Java applets will work for
them
