Failure to display imbedded text boxes and hyperlinks

Recently, rather than displaying imbedded text, Word (97)merely shows { EMBED
MSWordArt 2 \s }. Similarly, today I noticed a document with embedded
hyperlinks displays { HYPERLINK xxxxxx@xxxxx } rather than actually
displaying the active hyperlink. (Could this have anything to do with SPYBOT
or ZONE ALARM, which I recently installed?)

How do I get back to normal? (Documents do preview and print correctly.)

Press Alt+F9 to switch between display of field codes (what you're
seeing now) and field results (images, hyperlinks, etc.).
