faint font color when printing envelopes

I tried to print some envelopes in Word 2003. The layout and all worked well,
but the font color was faint, not black. I could set font size successfully.
But when I set font color from Auto to black explicitly, I still got an ugly
faint color. When I printed from a regular document, the font color was just
fine, standard black. What's going on?
