False message- document used by other user

Hi

I've just installed Word97 on a new notebook. Whenever I open a document it
tels me that '####.doc is being used by TC. Do you want to make a copy ?' If
I press cancel, I can work on it OK.

When I copy ###.doc to my main PC and then open it, I get the same message.

I am the only user on both machines.

Any idea what is going on and how I can fix it.
