Fancy Header Rows

You've probably seen, in magazines or newspapers, tables where the cells in
the header row are elongated and slanted off at an angle. That's the kind of
header row I would like to create.

This type of fancy header row is used when the column descriptions have many
more characters than the contents of the columns themselves, which might
only be a tickmark or a 'yes' or 'no'.

Can this be done in Word 2002?

You can rotate text 90 degrees right or left in a table cell but not at an
angle. This can be done in Excel (and you can embed an Excel sheet in a Word
doc).

Thanks for replying to my post.

I am aware that I can freely rotate text in Excel, however, this does not
rotate the cell itself. (The column width will change to fit the width of
the text.) I'm sure you understand the effect I am trying to achieve. Glad
to know that it can't be done in Word - otherwise I'd spend hours trying
(;->

I'm sorry, I honestly thought there was some way to make oblique headings
such as you describe in Excel (I don't use Excel much).
