fatal error

I am running 2003 on XP and am receiving a message after composing an e-mail
and hitting the send button. The message I receive states "Unable to
complete the operation. A fatal error has occured in outlook" does anyone
know a solution to this problem? After cancelling the message I am able to
send it.
