Fatal files

There are files that always cause Excel 2000 to crash whenever I try to open
them. The files all share one thing in common: they make reference to one or
more external workbooks.

Does anyone know the cause of this error and how it can be prevented? Is
there any way to recover the problematic files?

move the files they refrences refere to a diffrent place then reintroduce
them one at a time, opening the main file each time

if it only crashes when one of the files is introduced then you will find
which file is causing the problem
