I have the same problem on 53 Windows 2003 servers with citrix installed
after updating office 2003 to SP3

One thing i found is that if the users are asked to start word in safemode
the next time they try to open word you can delete the users profile the
problem seems to go away, at least for now.

I'm currently working with PSS to try and find a more suitable solution.

Hi Moonfisher,

Any luck with PSS? I'm seeing the same issue on XP Pro Systems where users
are loggin in using Remote Desktop.

Hi MOW,

Havent heard back from PPS yet, but i found that moving/deleting normal.dot
from the users (roaming)profile folder insted of deleting the entire profile
worked for me.

Any customization to the normal.dot template will be lost, but im wondering
if thats what causing the crash in the first place. :)

Hi all,

I had the same/similar error with FlexProfiles which stores some values at
the users home folder inside a "AppData" folder.

Solution:

Delete following folders/files inside H:\AppData\Microsoft\
Office
Templates
Word (Will destroy any modifications you've done to your Normal.DOT file)

Logout and make sure users' profile in C:\Documents and Settings\ is also
deleted otherwise do so. (This is part of our environment that the users
temporarily stored profile should be deleted upon logoff, might not apply for
your own environment)

Then log in again and it ""(should)"" work again =)

Hope it works for you as well.

p.s. Another thing to try if it doesn't work is to change the default
printer in Windows and try starting word again. d.s.

Cheers,

...MARTiN
