Favorites support in Office 2003

Have the favorites features in Office 2000 not been incorporated into Office
2003?

For example, in Office 2000 you could add files and folder links to your
favorites, but this feature is not present in Office 2003.

This link describes the feature I'm wondering if I can get Office 2003 to do.

http://office.microsoft.com/en-au/assistance/HA010552621033.aspx

The section in that link that I'm refering to begins with "To add a document
or folder shortcut to the Favorites folder."

Thanks

The 'Favorites' icon on the toolbar in File=>Open isn't built in but you can add the Favorites folder to the Office Places Bar (the
list of icons on the left side of File=>Open.

When in File=>Open navigate to your Favorites folder (or any folder) using the 'Look in' list at the top of File=>Open (usually
under
C:\Document and Settings\[your-username]\Favorites in WinXP)

Once you're in the folder use Tools=>Add to Places
in the File Open dialog.

You can then switch to the Favorites folder in File=>Open or File=>Save by clicking that choice in your Places Bar.

Your solution does not enable one to save shortcuts to files and folders in
their Favorites folder like Office 2000 allowed. What you described below
only gives me the ability to open and save files in the favorites folder,
which in my users case negates the usefulness of the favorites folder.

The problem is, the Office 2000 feature of being able to add shortcuts to
files and folders in your favorites seems to have been abandoned in Office
2003. In Office 2003 you can only add Internet Shortcuts to files (and not at
all for folders).
