Favourite folders

I actually find Favourite folder really useful in Outlook 2007, but it has
disappeared on me. I go into View-Navigation Pane and there is no option now
to turn Favorite Folders off or on, as is suggested in the Help.

any ideas where this has gone and how i can turn it back on?
