Fax console doesn't work anymore now that I switched from dial - up to Qwest
High speed.

Message I get is - No dial tone the phone line is in use or not connected.

Appreciate any help. I really like to be able to fax word docs directly
from the computer. Hate to have to buy an actual fax machine.

Thanks.

The message already answered your question. Fax requires an analog phone
line which you no longer have.

I possibly have a similar setup with ComCast broadband. Trying to send a
fax thru Outlook, I got a "no dial tone" message.

If you still have a conventional desk phone, I took the incoming line to the
equipment, and plugged it into my computer, long enough to send the fax.

*** Be careful : my previous unsuccessful fax attempts were stored
somewhere on my computer and were also sent when I finally provided a dial
tone to my computer and Outlook's fax program.

Re: Outlook's fax program, I'm assuming it's an Outlook function : I get a
"Fax Monitor" pop-up when I'm faxing, but I can't find any documentation of
it in "Help". It's very basic, and simply sends your email subject and text
as a fax. 'Haven't figured out cover sheet or other options, if there are
any.

I didn't overlook anything. You were postulating that the Fax Console is
part of Outlook. It is not. It is part of the OS. It is provided with the
OS, not Outlook. Outlook can simply use it as one of its transports. Outlook
can use SMTP/POP too, but they aren't provided with Outlook.

P.S. The "Fax Monitor" program may be an XP function integrated into

Please re-read my "P.S." posting. One should keep in mind that the
discovery of postulates is based on what man sees as common sense, and that
postulates are dependent on the limitations and fallibilities of man's
senses, reasoning, and imagination
