Fax number as email

When I enter a fax number into my contact information, the contact name displays twice in my contact list. Once as the SMTP email type and once as a fax email type. How do I not display the fax email types?

Either take it out of the fax field or place an alpha character in front of
the number in the fax contact field i.e. fax 0123 45678

Is that an "Undocumented Feature" in Outlook? or am I missing something
If the field is labeled as Fax, why should we have to place an alpha character to identify it as a fax
Furthermore, why should a number need an alpha character to force it to display properly

You are not using the alpha character to get it to display properly you are
doing the reverse in other words munging it so that it doesn't get
displayed. Your post said you didn't want it displayed but because a fax
number is a valid electronic address and therefore displays when you do a
look up the only way of removing it from the lookup is to remove it from the
fax field or place a character in front off it.
