Fax

I have a voice messaging system with distinctive ring tied
into my home office phone. It picks up calls in 4 rings. I
have the fax automatically set to pick up calls in four
rings as well. Either the fax does not pick up, or it
picks up everything. I have two seperate phone numbers,
one for fax, and one for voice. It does not recognize the
different numbers. Help! Are there any down loads for
distinctive ring that can assist me to configure this to
only pick up faxes, or do I need a seperate phone line?

Hi, Marilyn,

I'm not sure I understand how this relates to Microsoft Office; this
newsgroup is for peer support for Office-related issues.

Shouldn't you be taking this up with whoever supplied/installed your
modem/phone system?
The number of rings before a pick-up is part of the modem initialisation,
the PC only knows when a call has come in, it can't tell which number was
dialled to get to you; that's down to your phone system/service provider.

As far as I know, Windows Fax service does not have distinctive ring
recognition. A separate line should resolve your situation.
