I have roadrunner cable for internet use and a phone
modem.
When I receive a telephone call, it rings on the computer
to signal receiving a fax. Can this be eliminated w/o a
second telephone line.

What do you want to do and what program are you using? If you want to
eliminate the modem ring, edit the modem properties.
