faxing from Word 2004 for Mac

I have formatted documents that I want to fax as a group. They consist
of a letter (on letterhead) and a multi-page document, the first page
of which is also letterhead; subsequent pages are formatted
differently. When I want to fax these documents, I have created a
two-section single document to retain the format. Using Smith Micro's
"Fax STF X" or Apple's built in faxing utility, each section is treated
like a separate document and is therefore faxed separately, with a
separate cover sheet.

I suppose I could turn the word document into a pdf and see if that did
the trick.

I consulted with Smith Micro, they said they couldn't fix the problem,
and actually refunded my money while letting me retain my license!

Any suggestions?

Hi David -

Unfortunately you'll most likely run into the same problem with a PDF - 2
separate files. For some reason Section Breaks in Word docs are sometimes
interpreted as 'end-of-doc' when you print, fax or generate PDFs.

If you can't effectively do without the section breaks, go ahead & create
the PDFs, get a hold of one of the PDF 'stitcher' apps out there (if you
don't have Acrobat) then put the PDFs together as one doc.

I have Acrobat Professional 7.0--and I should probably be able to
figure this out. I'll experiment around with it today.

Should be a snap if necessary - Just click the Create PDF button & select
From Multiple Files...
