Faxing from Word in Panther

Has anyone else had the problem where trying to fax from a Word
document using Panther's built in fax software, when you go to use the
address book to select a fax number, all you get is an alert sound
when you try to select a particular contact.

It looks to me like it thinks there is some other dialog which needs
to be dismissed before it will allow the focus to change to the
address book window.

This doesn't appear to be a problem with other MS apps though.

If anyone could confirm or advise if there's likely to be an update,
as this is a pretty big showstopper for faxing in MacOS X if this
can't be resolved.
