You need to use an online fax service to which you can send your fax. I
have an eFax account but it is a freebie account and only used to
receive faxes. I get faxes so rarely, like once a year, that there is
no way that I'd waste a phone line or deal with the hassle of running
fax software to receive them. I can do that with the freebie eFax
account (used to use Faxwave from Callwave but they discontinued their
free receive-only service). The only time I receive a fax is from some
gov't bonehead that can't figure out to e-mail it to me.
If you send a lot of faxes, you can get a paid account at eFax and use
their software to send your faxes. TPC.int, I believe, is a free online
fax service but they are a net of users offering fax machines around the
world (i.e., it is more of a user community than a service), there may
not be a local number (so you might incur long-distance charges), and
delivery has been unreliable (as noted by other users of TPC since I
haven't used nor needed their service).
