FE Updater and Link Manager

I will be updating the FE on a laptop away from the server.
I wish to transfer the FE to a folder on the network so I can use Tony's FE
updater.
My question is will I still have to relink the FE to the BE on each
workstation since the path I use to modify the FE is different?
Sounds like a great idea for updates.

Once you bring the FE back to the server, relink it to the BE (use UNC
pathnames). Then put it in a folder on your server. When clients get the
FE via the updater, the fresh links will travel with it. No need to go to
each workstation.

Makes sense to me.
Just do the link once then save to the folder it will be pulled from.
