Hello,
I read the past discussions on the "xp ink" vs. "tablet
ink", what a shame - I am another user who bought OneNote
because of handwriting recognition. I do not see too much
flexibility in the range of tablet-PCs, especially in
screen size and weight. So my idea was this: use a standard
notebook (Panasonic Y2) - get an alternative input to use
it with OneNote
-I bought a Pegasus PC Notes Taker (they are really cheap
and nice look at e.g. http://www.atruereview.com/pcnote/)
-I bought OneNote
Everybody knows the answer, more or less.
Another really thrilling mater are "offline"-ink devices,
like Logitech's io Pen or the Pegasus Mobile NoteTaker.
Until now it was only possible to postpone speech
recognition (use a recording-device, input it into the
computer later).
Now with a e.g. lighweight Mobile NoteTaker it is possible
to retain vectors of the writing - let the computer do the
recognition thing later - just without having to use a
tablet pc (I am aware, slantness and acceleration vectors
are missing).
---> This is another voice for new (offline-)ink support in
the next version. Imagine what a market this will be!!!
-----------
For the time being I am looking for alternatives, like the
handwriting recognition from Design Universe
(http://www.design-universe.com/home.htm).
What other companies manufacture OCR-solutions for the
hand? Any recomendations?
---> My big question: is there a common file format for the
capture result (writing vectors, everything)? Or will a
future OneNote be able to open competitors files?
Thanks in advance
Regards
Vitti
