features are disabled

runing mac os x 1.2 and office xp for mac

in a workbook we have, these features are grayed out:
1. paste special
2. right clicking on cell, click insert and shift cells
right and shift cells down are grayed out, however you can
choose entire row or entire column
3. format > conditional formatting

I have copied this data and pasted into a new workbook,
and yet these same features are still grayed out. All of
these features work in other work books and in new/emty
workbooks.

what could be causing these features to be disabled in
this workbook?

I'm assuming you mean Office v.X for Mac, since OfficeXP is a
Windows version.

Have you updated Office using the updaters found here:

http://www.microsoft.com/mac/downloads.aspx

Don't know what's causing your menu items to be greyed out - do you
have any auto or event macros running in that workbook that disable
the menu items?
