If the mail is opened, the pictures are fetched and the user chooses to
save the changes when closing the message, then the pictures are enclosed
within the message.
Note, this is only how Outlook does it. Other mail clients might behave
differently and will always fetch a fresh copy. It's pretty much up to you
how long you want to support a specific email.

Hej,
I am not sure how to awnser your question but perhaps your are trying to
make a point?
What I am wondering is then when Outlook is working online, (which is
normal for me) and I recieve an email with some embedded images they are
not displayed. Instead I see a message that says I should right click
to fetch the messages (which I do). No problem.
Does this mean that Outlook now has a copy of the images so if I was then
offline later I could still see them, or are they always fetched when
needed?
The reason I ask is that I am sending an html formated email and I want
to know if I can delete the images that are lying on our web server after
a few weeks because I can assume that they have been fetched by Outlook.
Or whether they must always be present so that users can read their email
correctly.
Many thanks.
Richard
How are you going to fetch an online image if Outlook is set to using
offline mode?

After furious head scratching, Richard Bibby asked:
| Hello,
|
| I see that Outlook has various options for fetching embeded images
| that are links to external web sites however is there a way to get
| outlook to fetch the image and store it locally so it is available
| when the user is working "offline"?
