In the 2004 version of Word I was used to be able to insert the filename in the foot text. You got automatically a window from which to choose.
In the 2008 version this window has disappeard and I am not able to find a way to insert automatically the filename.

Hello Hans -

You're right - The Header/Footer toolbar in 2004 had an AutoText button on
it which I'm certain is what you're referring to. However, 2008 did away
with that toolbar & they didn't include the AutoText button in the H/F group
on the Formatting Palette. It's only been made a bit less convenient...

Just go to Insert> AutoText & you'll find what you're looking for.
