Field Code Shading in Word 2003

Have Microsoft changed the colour of Field Code shading to a lighter
colour grey than that of Word 2000? here is my scenario:

Track change colours are all set to black.
Field codes inserted into the footer linked to document properties.
With track changes switched on, update the fields in the footer by
selecting and pressing F9. Go back to the main body of the document.

The track changed field code in the footer does not show, because the
track change colour is black, and because the field code is in the
footer so the text is turned to grey, which is the same shade as the
field code so the text does not show unless you display the document as
Final or Original or change the track change colours to something other
than black.

I know you can switch the shading to Never, but would prefer to keep it
as always. In Word 2000 the field code shading was a darker colour
grey so the lighter colour track changed text in the footer field code
was visible. Any ideas on how we can change the field code shade
colour or is this something we need to tell Microsoft about?
