Field code to jump to a specific page (Without using bookmarks)

I know that I can embed a bookmark on a specific page and then
create a field code with a PageRef with a hyperlink. But I am looking for
a way to use a field code with a hyperlink that does not rely upon bookmarks.

Example: Page 12
The "12" would consist of a field code with a hyperlink to page 12.

Hi Tim,

PAGEREF fields can be used in cross-references to bookmarks, headings, etc. When you use Insert|Cross_Reference, you can see a full
list in the drop-down box. Ultimately, though, whatever you point the field to will require a bookmark of some sort - be it one
you've created or one that Word creates of its own accord.

Thanks for your reply. Because of the length of some of my documents (>100
pages), it takes some time to embed the bookmarks. I was kinda wishing that
there might have been some other functionality (like pre-defined bookmarks)
that I could take advantage of.

Hi Tim,

Ok, you're going to want your cross-reference to point to something, be it a heading, a table, a figure, a bookmark or whatever. In
practical terms, you can't simply point to a page #, since the relevant information could change pages.

In a sense, all headings, tables, figures etc, except the bookmarks you create, might be considered 'pre-defined' - since you don't
have to create bookmarks for them.
