I've just created a Word file and used some field codes such as the
fillin field. I needed to have one of the entries entered in the
fillin dialogue, repeat in other places in the file so I highlighted
the original fillin field code { fillin "EnterCompanyName" \*
mergeformat }, made this a bookmark and then proceeded to insert a ref
field at a different insertion point, with the bookmark I just created
{ ref CompanyName \* mergeformat }
It all worked fine for a while, that is when I updated all the fields,
all the ref fields would reference the original fillin field and
display the correct results. The problem is that when I closed the
file down and then opened it up again I got the following message:
Error! Reference source not found.
This error is appearing in all the ref fields I created. When I select
all and press F9 to update all the fields these fields don't get
updated and the error message just stays.
Can anyone give me any clues as to why this might be happening?
Also, once I had created the file I saved it as a template with the
..dot extension. Apparently on Windows computers, if you open up a
template like this the Fillin dialogue boxes automatically appear,
however when I tried to open up my .dot template the fillin boxes
didn't show. I had to select all and press F9 for the boxes to appear.
Any help would be much appreciated.
