Field Codes are open when opening a document

I was working with a document on a friend's computer and used ALT+F9 to reveal codes to troubleshoot. Now, even though I've switched the view, everytime she saves the document, it opens the document with the codes revealed. She should be able to open the document without having to toggle the codes back to a normal view. When she sent the document to me, the document opens with a normal view. I assumed it was a save or view option, but I couldn't find an option so her view should be correct when she opens the coument. Any suggestions?

Have you tried clearing the Field Codes option under Tools>Options>View>Field Codes?

I was doing that, but when we closed the document and re-opened, the check came back. Actually, we opened the document this morning, and the view was fine (and the field codes stayed unchecked). For whatever reason, it was acting funny and it needed a re-boot.
