Field Referencing

Goal: I would like to insert a field whereby it
automaticly displays the results of another field that a
user types in (less data entry).

I've done this by bookmarking a field. The going to the
area I want it displayed again and... INSERT | FIELD | REF
| Then chooseing my bookmark.

This works but I have to UPDATE FIELD each time for it to
display. HOWEVER, when I PROTECT the Document I can't
SELECT ALL to UPDATE FIELDS. Can this be done in a
protected document or does the document have to be
unprotected?

Brw,

By default, form fields are already bookmarked. For
example if you insert a text field it is bookmarked Text1.
You will see the bookmark name for each form field if you
double click the field with the document unprotected.

Use the source field bookmark name in your reference field
(e.g., { REF Text1 } will return the data held in the
Text1 formfield.

With the document unprotected, double click on the source
field and check "Calculate on exit." This will cause the
REF field to update.
