Field shading

how do you switch off field shading in word 2007? I've set field shading to
'never' in word options, but the shading is still there...

That would be under Word Options>Advanced>Show document content?

What type of fields are they? If they are formfields as used in a document
that is protected for forms, you turn it off by selecting the Legacy Tools
folder from the Controls section of the Developer tab of the Ribbon and then
click on the "a" that is enclosed in a hatched box in the top row of icons
(second from right).

I tried Word Options>Advanced>Show document content, but it doesn't make a
difference. They are mailmerge fields from an Access database (not
formfields). Any other suggestions?

ignore last thread - i've just solved it!
(it was the highlight merge fields button on the mailings ribbon that had
been accidentally selected!!
