Field size limitation

I have an excel 2002 file to be merged into a word2002
file which works OK except for the truncation of fields
over 255 characters.

I've tried the turning on the conversational option and
tried all the different connection methods, but still the
fields of greater than 255 characters are truncated.

What's really annoying is that searching the MS Support
site, it seems this was a problem in WD2000 and there is a
fix, but it seems to have been regressed in 2002!

Anything else I should try?
